Bay Area Shuckers Guards Honored as First All-Stars in Franchise History
Severn, MD (March 13, 2012) – The Bay Area Shuckers announced today their dynamic guard duo, Adrian Bowie and Terry Hosley, have been selected to the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) South All-Star Team and will play in The Bank of Glen Burnie ACPBL All-Star Game slated for Saturday, April 1, 2012 at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland.
“Adrian and Terry both have done excellent jobs for us this season and I’m proud to call them the first All-Stars for the Bay Area Shuckers. It is an honor well deserved by both,” said Shuckers General Manager John Wolfe.
Bowie is among the league leaders in scoring averaging 31.25 points per game and has posted 4.88 rebounds and 6.63 assists a game, while snagging 20 steals. He has been named Coffee News Player of the Game four times and was the ACPBL Player of the Week for his 43 point, 7 assist and three rebound performance in the Shuckers 149-148 overtime win over the Beltway Bombers on January 31st.
Hosley has scored 27.60 points per game while averaging 3.20 rebounds and 2.80 assist per contest. He also has 21 steals and has hit 15 three-pointers this season. Hosley twice has been named the Coffee News Player of the Game.
Before turning pro, Bowie played four seasons with the Maryland Terps playing in 135 games and starting 60. In his four seasons with the Terps he totaled 888 points, 286 assists, and 126 steals. During his time with Maryland the Terps were 83-52, won one ACC Championship and earned two NCAA Tournament berths and made one visit to the NIT.
After finishing his career at Maryland he played professionally in the summer of 2011 with SKS Polpharma-Pakmet of the Polish Basketball League. In November 2011 he was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 Annual NBA Development League Draft by the Erie BayHawks.
Hosley was a standout for the Parkville Knights finishing the 2002-2003 season as one of the Baltimore area’s top scorers. In 2003-2004 he played for CCBC-Essex and then resumed his collegiate career with Maryland Bible in 2008-2009. In his junior season he averaged over 19 points a game and in his senior season posted over 30 points a game. In 2010-2011 he played for the Maryland Marvels of the Eastern Basketball Alliance (EBA).
The all-star contest will be held at Archbishop Spalding High School located at 8080 New Cut Road in Severn, Maryland on Sunday, April 1st. A day full of basketball fun will start with gates opening at 1:30 PM. At 1:40 the iBallMag.com Three Point Shot and Slam Dunk Competitions will take place showcasing the ACPBL best long range shooters and dunk masters. The All-Star Game will tip-off at 3:10 PM.
The afternoon will also be filled with vendors, contests, giveaways, and performances by the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team.
The Shuckers host their final regular season game of the season on Saturday, March 24th at 7:00 PM at the Kilby Center located on the campus of Annapolis Area Christian School at 109 Burns Crossing Road, Severn, Maryland. The Shuckers take-on the Manhattan Pride and are currently battling for a first round bye in the upcoming ACPBL playoffs.
